Haven’t Wrote Anything Potentially Controversial In A While. Do Women Need Special Laws?

I sort of agree with DavidS’s Comment here. I’m fine with the women’s equality movement to the degree women should have equal protections as far as law goes, however that doesn’t mean I don’t recognise women have different needs and vulnerabilities. It’s a question to me, anyway, of shouldn’t we as society be doing more for each other out of human compassion and dignity, and less so out of government extortion?

UPdate.

The comments highlighted here I think sum up the problem with the whole “Women’s equality movement”. “They say they want equality, well here it is.”

It’s shocking that someone would make a videogame or photoshop a picture depicting violence directed at women. It’s unnatural to not have a strong reaction to it. The problem is, hey, every watch MMA? People pay to see men get beaten like that in real life.

Another article I might link later prompted this thought:

It almost seems to boil down to “by admitting there are particular challenges/privileges to a given demographic, you concede that certain demographics require special considerations.”
