Couldn’t think of the right term until today that seems to describe facebook life: exhibitionism. It’s like it turns us all into entertainers. As far as communications go, I know that entertainment is effective at one way messaging. I’m not so sure if I think it’s great for two way communications, though. I seem to feel alone a lot on it, depending on if anyone and who is or isn’t interacting with me on it. I think the way I feel joy when some folks interact with me might be similar to sort of that fan based joy when a celebrity interacts with a fan on twitter. It’s still sincere, but it does sort of leave me guessing a lot of the time, as to the true nature of our facebook friendship and how it extends into real life, when it does.
